LEGEND OF ZELDA
BOOK I OF THE HYRULE TERMINUS SAGA
THE GREAT FALL
CHAPTER II
DARK LINK

As link looked to the sky, his friend gave him a sharp nudge and said, “Dude, pay attention. You don't want to have these guys throwing surprises, now do you?” The young elf shook his head dismally. “Something's not right.” Sheik looked at him confused. “Whoa, there. What's got your branches in a bunch?” Without explaining, the elf replied, “We have to find Saria, NOW!” without another word, Link ran off. Sheik stood there confused and muttered, “what's up with him? One too many sips of the old milk?” That was when he noticed the clouds. “Weird.” he mused. “I've never seen red clouds around noon.”

Concerned about his friend, the fighter ran after him. After a fair amount of time looking, he yelled, “Dilt! Any idea where that idiot ran off to?” The red fairy sighed. “You put me in a bottle for talking and NOW you want me to say something?” Sheik snapped, “This is NOT the time, Dilt! Look at the clouds to the east! Something about them has Link freaked out!”
“Who's Link?” Growling, Sheik yelled, “No Name! He's calling himself LINK! Where the Dark World is HE?!?” The fairy now sounded frightened. “The Fairy Queen warned me of this day. We have to Hurry! This way!!!”

As the two ran, Sheik yelled, “What are you going on about, Dilt? Come clean with me!” The fairy yelled back, “There's no time for that! We have to find Link and Saria before it's too late!” At that moment, the elfin warrior crashed into someone. “HEY!!!” he yelled. He looked up and saw Saria. “Hey, there you are. Have you seen Li... I mean No name?” She shook her head and replied, “Not for the last hour. Why? What's happened? Navi flew up to them and said, “No name's running to the castle! He's trying to get to the princess!”

Sheik groaned. “What is that Idiot doing? We have to go after him!” Navi quickly countered, “No! You have to follow me! There's no time to explain, Just HURRY!!!” Without questioning the sprite, the duo ran in chase. They finally reached a ruined temple sitting just on the outskirts of the kingdom. Standing there, Saria looked at Navi and asked, “What is this place?” Sprit answered, “It's the safest place in the world right now, and we have to get in it.” Sheik yelled, “How the Heck are we supposed to do that? There's no door! Are we supposed to yell Open Says Me or something?”

The three fairies entered small rounded holes in the structure and the wall opened. Navi yelled, “Hurry inside! Link will meet us in a bit!” The two ran into the building and looked around. From the outside, the structure was just a pile of debris. On the inside, it looked like a magnificent temple, untouched by the hands of time. Saria looked around and said, “What is this place?”

Link came out of the shadows, wearing all black and jet black hair, saying, “This is the temple of time. An ancient palace that transcends time and space.” Sheik looked at him dumbly. “What's with the look?” The three fairies moved between the duo and the black garbed Link. Sighing, he muttered, “Glad to see you too, Navi, but I'm not your enemy...” letting out a chuckle, he added, “Well, Not this time, anyway.”

Saria looked confused. “What's going on here?” The dark Link replied, “Good question. I'm at a loss myself this time, but if the temple is crossing the light and the dark worlds together, It seems like I'm going to have to be your best friend until this mess is all fixed up. By Gannondorf's beard, This is unusual.” A secret passage opened and Link came stumbling out, landing face first into one of the isles. The dark doppelganger laughed and said, “Three for style on that one, But the execution is a perfect ten.”

Link scrambled to his feet and yelled, “You!!!” Dark Link chuckled and replied, “Yes, me, who is you. Guess that means you are me and... Okay, I've been in this place WAY too long. I'm starting to babble....” Link drew his sword and took a fighting stance. Sighing, The dark elf walked to the altar at the front of the temple and drew a large bundle, saying, “That stick isn't going to help you, neither are those rags. Use these.” He tossed the bundle to elf's feet and said, “There's a room at the back to change. You'll want to wear those. An old friend of yours asked me to give them over.”

Navi yelled, “Do you think We're going to fall for this trick you're pulling? We can see right...” She was cut off as a purple fairy appeared over the dark warrior's shoulder. “By the Goddesses, Navi... Do you ever get tired of pointing fingers?” Dilt said in a dumb tone, “What do you mean? We don't even HAVE fingers...” Everyone turned to the red fairy with a blank look on their faces. Awkwardly, the dark elf muttered, “Moving on, it looks like we're both in the same boat. It's going to be a little tough to explain without sounding paranoid, but it's the facts as they are. And Dammit, Link! Hurry up and change!!!”

The blond haired elf went into the back room and disappeared for several minutes. Finally, he came out wearing a green tunic and hat with an iron sword and a wooden shield strapped to his back. Sheik looked at him and said, “Nice threads. Still doesn't make you look any cooler than me.” Saria swatted him in the head and sighed. “No one ever said you were cool.” The dark elf said, “I was told to give both of you these as well.” He handed Saria an iron spear and Sheik a pair of Iron boots.

The warrior elf put on the boots and smiled. “Come on, I thought people said these were heavy.” Saria muttered, “They seem light on your legs because you're used to carrying your ego with them.” Picking up the spear she pointed the tip at the dark elf and said, “And seriously, giving us weapons? You're out of your mind. We know what you did in the past. We wont fall for any of your lies.” The purple fairy sighed and muttered, “Just like you to be paranoid. You are so much different than your past self.”

Standing there confused, the fairy continued, “I think it's about time we started telling you what happened to our world, since right now, the same is happening to yours. We'll worry about alliances after that.”
