LEGEND OF ZELDA
BOOK II OF THE HYRULE TERMINUS SAGA
DEATH MOUNTAIN
CHAPTER VIII
GODDESS DIN

The group stood outside the hall of the Din Idol, with the Gorons around them. Grateful, they gave the group supplies and stocked their items. The group looked at the Golden doors with red embossing and Link said, “This is it. The first Goddess Idol. Once we get her blessing, we'll be able to continue.” Sheik sighed and replied, “Not to e a total mood kill or anything, but anyone have any idea how to get to the Dark World once we do this?” Shadow shrugged. “One thing at a time. Now how do we open the door to this place?”

The Goron elder took a torch off the wall ant tapped it against the door. The massive metal slabs slowly moved inward and revealed a red statue holding a golden triangle in it's hands. The four of them walked to the statue and stood there in complete awe. “So this is the monument of the goddess Din.” Saria said in a whisper. “It's beautiful.” Shadow smiled. “So this is what a Goddess looks like. Amazing.” Link nodded. So all we have to do is get her blessing. Any ideas?”

Sheik shrugged. “I dunno. Is there an on switch?” The others gave him a strong backhand to the back of the head and looked at him angrily. “What?” he asked. “I've never tried this before!” The group started thinking hard. The trial was theirs alone, and they could get no outside help. Link looked at the ground sighing. “Any idea why there's molten stone surrounding the statue?”

Shadow snapped his fingers. With the attention of everyone on him, he said, “Look at the floor. There are deep grooves in it. One of the sections on the outer ring move inward filled with molten rock. I think the floor is a puzzle. We have to fit them together and have them make a path to the Idol.” The group noticed a fair number of levers and tried to figure out what to do.

Link smiled. “I got it!” he yelled. “Let's try and see if we can make the Tri-Force with these paths and see if that works!” Sheik nodded. “Simple, yet effective. I think he might be on to something.” The group pulled the levers for several minutes until they made the triangle made of triangles that was the Tri-Force. The molten rock flowed through the crannies until finally, it reached the Idol. A pedestal rose from the ground containing a crystal with fire in it. Saria said in awe, “Din's Fire! A gift from the Goddess herself!”

The crystal broke into four parts and started circling the warriors. “THAT wasn't supposed to happen!” Link shouted in fear. Suddenly, each fire crystal hit a member of the group, and their weapons took on a different form. Saria blinked in confusion. “I doubt that was either.” Shadow looked at his blade and said, “Wait.” He looked at the weapons and saw they radiated with a faint shimmering effect. “Demon Bane,” he whispered, almost breathless. “Remarkable.” The Goron elder said, “The blessing was to go to the legendary Hero. This is most unusual.”

Shadow smiled and said, “I guess that if the light and darkness are supposed to save two worlds, we'll need all the help we can get.” A glow came from the statue and a melodic female voice said, “Welcome Legendary Hero. You have done well to make it to this shrine. The enemy you face is greater than any one hero can manage alone. With the help of your friends, both out of life and through necessity, you have made it. You will need their help time and again to survive the calamity that has befallen both our world and the one that exists in it's shadow, for one can not survive without the other.”

"Therefore, I have sealed my blessing in not one, but all four of you who now stand before me. As of this point, you are ready to move on to your next step in your journey, and continue the Legend that you all now walk. Be brave, young warriors. And stay true to your goals.”

In a bright flash, the room was blinded from their vision. When the sight returned, the wind blew harshly. They were no longer in Death Mountain. Shadow looked around and said, “This is...” The group looked at him as he finished, “The Dark World proving grounds. We're in my world.” Sheik turned to Link and asked, “Now what?”

Link smiled, turning to the mountains that would be their destination and said, “Move forward. We have a lot of people counting on us, so let's not keep them waiting. Besides, I want another crack at that Demon copycat.” He extended his hand and smiled. “Who's in?” Sheik shrugged and placed his hand over his friend's “Sure. Why not?” he replied. Saria smiled and said, “Count me in.” Shadow looked at them for several minutes before saying, “Hey. I got nothing better to do.”

The three of them yelled, “Let's go!” They started walking for a little while when Shadow said, “By the way, what are we going to do about horses?” Link shrugged. “We'll find some. Know any places around here, Shadow?”
"Nope. Never been this far out before.” The group stopped and yelled, “DAMN!!!”
