LEGEND OF ZELDA
BOOK III OF THE HYRULE TERMINUS SAGA
WORLD OF DARKNESS
CHAPTER IV
WHAT A MESS

The group had stopped not far into their quest as they were swarmed by a large band of vampire bats. Link and shadow slashed with their blade, Saria thrust with great force and Sheik expertly fired arrows at the creature. The newest member of the group, however, flailed his hands wildly in a futile attempt to swat the attacking creatures. Saria yelled, “This is completely ridiculous! Bats? In the middle of the day?” Shadow yelled back, “It actually a little after midnight! The burning sky makes it almost impossible to tell the difference!”

Link dodged a swarm of bats and snapped, “Maybe that's why these things are so pissed!” Tingle ran for cover while being chased by a large swarm, yelling, “HALP!!!” He jumped into the water and remained beneath the surface. The bat's immediately flew off. Saria smiled. “Well. That a good thing. But, what scared them off?” Shadow looked around and muttered, “What happened to...” Seeing a couple of pieces of paper floating in the water, he yelled, “That IDIOT!!!” Link chuckled awkwardly and said, “Let's not be rude...”

Tingle shot out of the water running in blind fear. Shadow readied his sword and said, “Get ready everyone. He really did it this time!” A large Octorok loomed out of the water and roared violently. Link muttered, “Great.” He ran at the sea creature and readied his blade to strike. Suddenly, he raised his shield and deflected a massive stone shot from the creature's mouth. Standing there blankly, he muttered, “Did that thing just spit a rock at me?”

Deflecting another stone, Shadow hopped onto his shoulder and pushed off, flying at the creature's head. Inverting his weapon, he stabbed it into the creature's head and pushed off. Saria repeated this procedure and Sheik attempted the same thing. However, in his case, the elf slumped to the ground. “Sorry,” Sheik said impishly. “Forgot about the boots.” Link, now too sore to move, muttered, “No worries... Don't do it again...”

Mounting an arrow with a bomb, he yelled, “Fire in the pie-hole!” and launched the projectile into the creature's mouth. The bomb detonated and the creature stood there dazed for a moment, then slumped back into the water. Link stood up, holding his shoulder and said, “Well, that takes care of... do you hear a girl screaming?” Sure enough, Tingle ran past the group and dove once again into the water. A loud crashing sound came from behind them and Shadow yelled, “If he keeps this up, I'LL kill him!!!”

A Massive creature came crashing through the woods at the group, and Shadow yelled, “Watch out! An Armos Titan!” Link rolled out of the way of an attack from the creature and yelled, “That's a Sacred Grove Guardian, Not an Armos!” Trying to stab the creature's chest, he yelled, “What in Magmos name is a Sacred Grove?!?” Remembering that he was in a completely different world now, he yelled, “Never Mind! How do we kill it?” Sheik ran at the creature and did a flying kick. The Titan grabbed him by the leg and tossed him into the water. Link and Saria turned and yelled, “SHEIK!!!”

“We have bigger fish to fry now!” yelled the dark elf. “this thing isn't going to die on its own anytime soon!” Gripping their weapons tightly in anger, they turned to the creature that had disposed of their friend. Both their clothes started to take on a reddish form and their blades also were affected by this energy. Tears in their eyes, their weapons ignited into flame and a thin set of armor appeared on them. Standing there stunned, Shadow thought, 'Is that... Is that the power of a Goddess? Can one mere Idol grant the strength to topple a titan?”

Link and Saria began to run opposing circles around the creature, who made futile attempts to stop their impending attack. Saria jumped in a spinning motion and brought her spear on the creature's head, breaking off small pieces of it's stoney skin. Link Jumped high into the air and snapped his blade into a striking position, and well before in range to land a blow, he slashed at the creature.

A powerful wave of flames hit the Titan's chest, causing it to roar in pain. The duo landed and continued landing powerful blows to the creature, doing damage to it rocky body Shadow said quietly as he drew the bow, “Dragons, if you can hear me, I curse thee for forcing me to slay my friends, And to make things right, I impeach the to let me use this new power to protect my new ones.”

The arrow ignited into flames and he started feeling weak. 'Ugh!' he thought. 'I guess there is a price to use power that isn't from your world. I can barely focus.' Attempting to steady his shot, he whispered, “Forgive me, Dragons, for forcing such a demand and grant this one shot true.” The fire arrow now became a blaze. Releasing the arrow, he could see the form of a dragon surrounding the projectile.

He watched eager as the arrow was about to make impact, then in horror as it missed and headed for Link. “No” he could barely say as he dropped to his knees and slumped to the ground. In the darkness, A booming voice said, “How weak, even with the power of a goddess. Don't you want to see the kill?” The dark elf uttered, “I missed. It's going to hit link and kill him instead. I'll never save anyone if I can't do something like shoot an arrow at the enemy.”

Laughing, the voice boomed, “Simple, simple Kokiri. You don't understand where the true strength of what you ask for lies. You will never succeed in this quest alone. I granted you my power this one time so you may see where true power calls home.” Shadow forced his eyes open and saw that Saria's spear was also heading towards the green garbed warrior as he readied his sword and raised his arrow.

The two weapons hit the shield and deflected into the Titan's chest where the jewel lay. Link then lunged at the creature and drove his blade into the chest, knocking it to the ground. The two forest elves picked up their weapons and turned to the lake where Sheik had been tossed. That was when they were knocked back by another Armos Titan. The three warriors didn't have the strength to fight this one and knew they would now meet their friend.

Then, multiple large stones hit the Titan repeatedly in the jeweled weak point and it fell to the ground. The trio turned and saw Sheik. Letting out an impish grin, he said, “Did I miss anything?” He hopped down and patted the Octorok. Link shook his head and asked, “You TAMED it?” Holding an empty pouch, he replied, “They really love the taste of Deku Seeds... Sorry Saria.” Smiling, she said, “I'll kill you later. I'm too tired right now.” Smiling, the warrior said, “Dolly here... That's her name, by the way... says she attacked because she saw both links and remembered the guy who stole the queen looked a lot like you two.”

Link growled, “That Demon is here as well? Good. I've been wanting to take another crack at that guy.” Sheik shook his head. “This one is different. Dolly says that this one she could feel the power that destroyed Hyrule. She was trying to scare us off... To protect us.” Link shook his head. “Not until we save the Fairy Queen. Until then, We fight anything that stands in our way.”

Smiling, Sheik said, “She guessed that would be our answer. So, she gave us these.” He held up a compass and a map, saying, “She also says that every creature in the forest will try and kill us, so we'd best be careful.” Tingle started shadowboxing again, saying, “I'll teach those things a...” The four elves yelled, “SHUT UP, YOU IMP!!!” He shrunk down and looked upset. Sighing, Link said, “Look, we fight, you read the map, okay? We'll get you that compass yet.”

As the team headed out, Tingle whimpered, “But I didn't agree for this for a compass. I just want to be...”
