LEGEND OF ZELDA
BOOK V OF THE HYRULE TERMINUS SAGA
HORSEMAN'S WRATH
CHAPTER VIII
FIRE FIGHT

The massive spider jumped out of the tree to reclaim it's escaped prize and landed several feet away from Shadow. He smiled and said, “Let's rock!” Snapping his hands to he side, two blades made of searing flame appeared. Taking a ready stance, he waited for the moment to strike. The spider scuttled towards him and he lunged. When he got close to the creature, he began a powerful series of strikes that seared the monster's carapace and forced it to make a retreat  up the tree.

This time, however, the dark elf was able to do significantly more than he could before, including run up the tree after his prey. Moving quickly, he caught up to the monster as it climbed onto it's web. Running along one of the webs threads, burning it as he moved, he dragged his burning weapons along it causing it to catch fire. The spider let out a loud chitter of surprise. He reached his monstrous target and kicked it off it's web and to the ground.

As he fell after it, he flipped the blades and saw the crystal on it's back. Seizing the opportunity, he drove the blades into it's back, causing billowing green smoke to rise from the wound. Jumping off, he somersaulted backwards and landed on the ground. The spider, now in a rage, charged at the warrior blindly. It wanted him dead, and would do anything to accomplish the task.

It went to bite the dark elf, and he dodged the attack effortlessly. With a quick motion, he drove the both blades into it's maw, causing it to writhe away in pain. He then remembered the cocoons that held his fellow villagers.  He ran at a tree, jumped off it and then off the next, continuing until he had reached the three sacks. Cutting them free, his allies fell to the ground. He had completely forgotten about the spider. As he turned, he saw the monster about to drive it's pincers into him again.

At that moment, several daggers hit the creature, simultaneously exploding and knocking it back to the ground. Shadow turned and say a person move with great speed and land behind the spider. The stranger grabbed the monster and tossed it at the dark elf, a welcomed voice yelling, “Here you go!” Smiling, Shadow fell off the web and sliced both blades into it's body as he passed it towards the ground. He landed beside his friend Sheik, who was looking particularly worse for wear.

Shadow noticed the red iron weapon he used and the crystal above his head as he said, “Shouldn't you be in bed?” Laughing, his friend replied, “What? And let you have all the fun?” Smiling, Shadow said, “Glad you're here. Now let's kill this thing. I really hate spiders.” Sheik smiled, “Well, if that's the case, they're my new best friend.” The two of them laughed at the joke and took fighting stances.  Sheik looked at his ally and asked, “You want to try the old Meteor Drill?”

Shadow nodded. The Kokiri grabbed the dark elf and tossed him high into the air. As he came back down, Shadow inverted his blades and prepared to drive them home. Sheik grabbed the Spider and tossed it at his friend. The dark elf ran his weapons into the creature and sheik grabbed him, causing the two warriors and the monster to spin at a high rate of speed. Sheik, Shadow and the Monster Spider crashed into the ground, filling the area with dust and debris.

In the cloud, Sheik muttered, “That was not the meteor drill...” Shadow simply replied, “Sorry.” When the dust cleared, they noticed the spider was gone. Looking up, they saw the projectile webs coming down at them. The two of them struck at the webs and flames shot out, engulfing the attack in fire. Sheik ran at one of the trees and jumped form one to another in an intercept course towards the monster. Going higher then the enemy, he pushed off a branch and dove into the arachnid, sending it crashing to the ground.

Shadow looked at sheik as he landed beside him and said, “Any idea how, exactly, we're supposed to kill this thing?” The Kokiri warrior shook his head. “I was sort of hoping you knew.” Liara voice yelled, “You have to remove it's head!” Shadow and Sheik nodded. “Well,” The Kokiri said contemplatively. “Looks like I'm not going to be very useful here.” Shadow smiled and replied, “Distract it and I'll finish it off.” Smiling, the warrior ran at the spider and smashed his foot on the creature's head, sending it crashing into the ground.

The Spider got back up and thrust it's spiny leg at it's assailant. Sheik grabbed the attack and started rotating his body. The mighty force of the spin caused the creature to rise off the ground and spin. When he gained enough speed, the Kokiri warrior yelled, “Shadow! Batter UP!!!” releasing the arachnid, it soared at the dark elf as he crossed the blades in front of him. When the enemy was upon him, he lunged and landed a powerful series of slashes, completely devastating the creature's body, but not killing it.

Sighing, Shadow said, “Screw this.” Pulling the bomb mounted arrow, he took aim and said, “Just die already.” he fired the arrow and the resulting explosion took off the creature's head. Liara limped over to the creature and she took samples of the blood. Looking at Shadow and the ailing Sheik, she said, “I'll have an antidote ready in a couple of minutes.”

The five warriors returned to the village. It appeared the fire was dealt with by the ailing Link, who looked fairly awful at this point. Sheik took one of the bottles of the remedy and gave it to his lifelong friend. Taking a swig, Shadow and his fellow villagers could hear him yelling clearly, “That doesn't taste a thing like soup!!!” Laughing, Shadow said, “Now I just need to give some of this to Saria.” The six people entered Shadow's house and watched as he gave her the thick potion. Time passed, but she didn't open her eyes.

Shadow closed his eyes with tears forming. He was too late. This made two times that he couldn't save the one person he couldn't stop thinking about... even if she was a different person from the one he knew. Weakly, he took her slingshot and held it tightly. Saria's voice said softly and menacingly, “Just because I'm asleep doesn't mean you can touch that, Shadow.” Eyes widening, he grabbed the female and held her close. “Thank the Gods!” he yelled, holding her tightly. “You're alright!” the female's face turned bright red. “Sh-Shadow?” she stammered, confused.

Link smiled. “Well, now that we're all treated, What the hell happened to you? You're burned pretty badly.” Mido smiled. “Ah, the actions of the heart. I'll fill you in on what I remember.”
