CHAPTER III
FIRST STRIKE
“If all things are created equal, how the hell did you wind up to be such a royal pain in the ass?” – Amy Rose to Sonic on her fifteenth birthday.
Sonic looked at her and asked, “What are you talking about. You already told me about the family tree when I was a kid.” Amy sighed and muttered, “Sonic, would it kill you just shut up for once in your life?” Sonic shrugged and replied, “Probably not, but why take chances?” suddenly, a sack of flower fell on top of both their heads as Violet yelled, “Both of you be quiet and listen, or I’ll take away your allowance for the next month.” Amy yelled, “No, please! I’ll be quiet!” Sonic chuckled and said, “The new shipment of Prada must have come out..”
Immediately after the comment, he found himself with a metal fastener over his mouth. Knuckles looked at her and remarked, “A little extreme, but probably the only you’ll get him to listen.” Violet smiled and said, “Now that I have your attention, listen up, because I’m not going to say this again in the foreseeable future.” Sonic let out a muffled sound. Tails looked at a small computer and said, “He says he’ll be quiet you take the muzzle off.” Knuckles let out a snicker and said, “Why take a chance. Besides, I like the concept. When did you think this up?”
Amy and Violet both replied “Growing up in a family of five boys.” Mrs. Rose then said, “The story is like this. There are two types of beings on this planet. There is the race of Order, who has no abilities and live a very comfortable existence, and there are the children of Chaos. The children of Chaos have power given to them from the essence of the crystals forged from the Gods known only as the Chaos Emeralds. The two races lived in peace for many eons when finally disaster struck. The infinite power that is Chaos created a creature of pure evil. It was not long before the creature’s name was discovered. The Chaos Emeralds held the infinite power because the god of destruction, Nazo, was sealed away in it.”
“The seals of the crystal weakened and Nazo’s mightiest general, who could be called nothing other than Chaos waged war on the earth, destroying all in it’s path. The only way to battle this evil…” Before she could finish the explanation, the sound of gunfire sounded just outside the house, as though a small scale war had suddenly started.
Tails yelled, “What’s going on?” Knuckles yelled, “Everyone, Get out of here! Eggman started an assault!” Sonic pulled the fastener off his mouth and yelled, “Eggman? Who is that?” Knuckles looked at him and said. “Trust me. You don’t want to find out.” At that moment, the door flew off the hinges and Shadow walked in. He looked at Sonic and said, “Well, well. Sonic of the Silver Clan. And what’s this? A Chaos Guardian? How… Amusingly pathetic.” Knuckles yelled, “Everyone, get out! I’ll take care of this guy!” Shadow smiled and said, “Not likely.” He quickly drew a pistol and opened fire on the red haired male. Violet quickly snapped her hand at him and a blast of energy hit the creature.
Suddenly, she turned and got hit buy a blast of fire. The mother hit the wall with great force and a female said, “Geeze, Shadow. I thought the boss said the Rose clan was a threat.” Shadow said, “It’s the child we were sent to get.” He appeared behind Amy and hit her in the back of the head. Sonic yelled, “Get your hands off her!!!” A blast of fire hit the teen and he fell to the ground. A humanoid machine walked in, picked up Amy and headed out. Violet slowly forced herself to her feet and said, “I’ll fight you to my dying breath, Blaze. I’m not going to let Eggman create a repeat of the Chaos War.”
Blaze smiled and said, ”Suit yourself.” With a snap of her fingers, Violet burst into flames. Sonic yelled, “NO!!! You BITCH!!!" As the anger started to spread across his face, something strange happened. A dark aura started to permeate from his body. Shadow laughed and said sarcastically, “Looks like we made the punk angry. We’d better run for it.” He then opened fire on him. After firing the entire clip, he noticed that Sonic was unaffected. His body started to turn jet black. When the transformation completed, his eyes flashed a glowing red. Blaze sneered and said, “I got this.”
The female snapped her fingers and Sonic was engulfed in flames. “Ha!” she cheered. “That’ll do the trick.” Her triumphant sneer changed to shock as the flame suddenly extinguished. Sonic said in a dark, hollowed voice, “Pathetic fleshling. You honestly think that can kill me? Let me show you how it’s done.” with that he vanished. Immediately, Blaze was thrown into a wall with the dark Sonic’s hand against her throat. He let out a smile filled with infinite darkness, “Goodbye, last child of the Blaze clan.” He drew his hand back and Blaze yelled, “Shadow! Do some…” her plea was cut short as Sonic drove his fist hard enough into the female’s head to revert it into a pulp state. He then turned his attention to shadow and said, “Now for the so-called ultimate life form.”
Shadow yelled, “Dammit!” and backed himself into a corner, face filled with fear. “So you're Nazo.” Sonic prepared to finish what was started when a blast of energy hit the chaotic life form in the back. Sonic fell to the ground unconscious with Tails standing behind him, holding a strange, smoking device. He stood there, breathing heavily and trained the device on Shadow, saying, “Okay, whoever you are. This thing has a lot of power right now, so don’t test me.” Shadow looked at him and said, “I have no interest in you, twerp. I’ve done my job.” With that, he ran out of the house as fast as he could.
Knuckles moved over to Sonic, emitting a strange green glowing liquid from where he was shot. He looked at the teen and said, “So that is why Tikal went to him.” Tails yelled, “What are you talking about? What happened to him?” The wounded guardian looked at him and said, “For a brief moment, he became the destroyer of existence. He became Nazo himself. We need to get out of here before Swat-Bots arrive.” He lifted Sonic off the ground and said, “Hold on tight, Miles. We have a long way to go and it won’t take long to get there.”
Tails held onto his arm tightly and they vanished. On Angel Island, Silver sat in the temple as the trio appeared. He turned and a look of shock crossed his face. He ran over to them and lifted Knuckles to his feet, saying, “Hold on, old friend. I’ll have you beside the Master Emerald shortly.” It looked as if it was taking all of the guardian’s strength to move. When they reached the large crystal, his body started to glow. A few moments later, it was as if he had never been injured at all. Silver walked over to Sonic and said, “So, this is the one torn between light and darkness? Bears a striking resemblance to a certain good looking old man, don’t you think?”
Knuckles let out a weak chuckle and replied, “Good looking is not exactly the term I would have used.” Silver turned to him with an impish grin. “Oh? How would you describe it, then?” The guardian turned to face him and said, “By the Gods. I broke my mirror again!”
“One time that happened.” Tails cut off the conversation yelling, “What is going on? Where are we and what is happening to Sonic?” Silver smiled and said in a sing-song voice, “Nothing serious. He only turned into Nazo, the destroyer of all that exists. Charming person, if I say so myself. Kind of like a permanent brain freeze. Speaking of which, do we have any more snow cones left?” Knuckles shrugged. “I don’t know. Why don’t you go to the ice peaks and find out?”
“Okay.” With that, the peculiar person left.
Knuckles sighed and said, “There. It’ll be a couple of days before he finds out I finished off the last of them. More than enough time to fill in the blanks.” Sonic slowly started to wake up. “Ugh. Did someone mention snow cones?” Tails chuckled and said, “Typical Sonic. First mention of food and you have his complete attention.” Sonic groaned, “Less talking, more grub. I’m starved.” Knuckles smiled and said, “I planed for this.” He reached into his coat and pulled out a chili dog, waved it under his nose and said as if to a puppy, “Look what I got. Do you want a chili-dog? I bet you do. I bet you do.” Sonic’s nose followed the food and tails muttered, “This is so sad that it defies rational explanation.”
Knuckles frowned, saying, “You’re right. This is rather pathetic.” He crammed the chili dog into Sonic’s mouth and said, “So much that it’s lost all it’s fun.” When the teen raised his head, the guardian said, “I’m not sure how to explain everything to you. I mean, You’re in no way like Silver. It’s almost impossible to believe that you are of the same clan.” At that moment, a female voice came from all around, saying, “He seems so different because he is only of Silver’s clan by birth. The truth of his ancestry is far darker than even you can fathom.” Knuckles looked at the Master Emerald and said, “What is that supposed to mean, Tikal?” The female stepped out of the large crystal and said, “Silver is only half his bloodline.” Sonic muttered, “What is that supposed to mean. No one is half a clan. It’s impossible.” Tikal nodded. “That is true, but your bloodline fell out of Silver during the Chaos War, When your true ancestor became the demon now known as Nazo.”
