CHAPTER VII
FROM LIGHT TO DARKNESS…
“I’m not scared of anything. Well, except spiders. And heights. Maybe those jocks by the school entrance, perhaps country music… Ah, who am I kidding. I’m a chicken shit, happy now?” – Tails when first asked by Amy what scares him most.
Tails looked at Amy and said, “So, what do we do to power him up?” Amy shook her head and replied, “He needs to touch them! When he does that, it’ll be as if he’s the freaking Energizer Bunny on a three week espresso bender! We might be able to win that way.” After a moment, the teen male asked, “And that’s different from his normal self how, exactly.” Amy thought for a moment. “Sorry. Forgot who we were talking about..” Sonic ran around the corner and crashed into the two of them. They lay there dumbly for a second before Sonic beamed, “Hey Amy. Hey Tails. Fancy running into you guys.”
“Sonic,” Tails muttered. “If you ever, ever say a pun as bad as that again, I’m going to sick Amy on you.” Sonic let out a yelp of pain and he turned to see what happened. Amy stood there with her trusted hammer and said, “Yeah, well, I didn’t feel like waiting.” At that moment, a powerful blast engulfed Sonic’s companions. He stood there in shock as the area was destroyed. The teen clenched his fists and a dark aura flowed from his hand. A blade of pure evil formed from the energy. “What the Hell are you, you over-glorified leech!” The creature smiled. “I am the true ultimate life form, Chaos-shadow!”
Sonic said, “Wait, did you say chaos–shadow? Not very original.”
“Well, I kind of thought… wait. Who took that name?” Sonic sighed. “I’m about ready to kill a certain someone with a word processor right about now.” Thunder filled the air and he barely missed getting hit by lightning. The creature stood there and said, “I know everything, and the one thing I know most, Sonic, is when not to ask questions. However, I have to know. You didn’t do something stupid like actually breaking the fourth wall, did you?”
Sonic sighed and muttered, “I’d like to exercise the second amendment at this time.” Chaos sighed. “I thought you were foolish, but this defies all chaotic disasters that even I am capable of!”
HEY!!! You two mind shutting up already? There’s only two more chapters left and I’d like to see it stays that way!!!
The two of them yelled, “Yeah, yeah!” they then muttered, “Jackass.” Again, lightning fell from the sky, barely missing both of them. Chaos looked at Sonic and said, “I think we’d better start fighting. This guy’s actually scaring me, and I’m immortal!” Sonic nodded and harnessed the dark energy, and said, “Count on it! You killed my friends, you destroyed my life and now you get whoever this… this… whatever he is breathing down my neck! I’m freaking pissed!!!” He raised the sword above his head and charged at the creature, who simply vanished. Sonic immediately found himself flying five blocks. Before he could hit the ground, he was hit a second time and flew into the air.
Again he was hit and this time crashed into the ground. The sword got dislodged from his hand. Chaos picked up the weapon and smiled. “Nice blade. Tell me, wasn’t this forged from the Master Emerald? Yes, a fine blade that doesn’t cut flesh…” He thrust the blade through Sonic’s chest and concluded, “But still lethal. Rather than attack flesh, the blade destroys the ambient energies from within the body. Perfect to take my life, but just as useful to take yours.”
The life drained from Sonic’s eyes and his final breath escaped his lips as his body finally ceased to be. Chaos let out a sinister chuckle as he said, “Looks like there’s no happy ending to this story, Sonic. Chaos will reign supreme and I will personally see oblivion brought to this world.”
With that, he walked away to plan his next offensive to fuel the fires that was needed to bring the end.

Hours later, as cold rain fell on the burning city, Tikal stood over sonic’s corpse and sighed. “Greg! What the hell are you doing?”
Hey! I thought we agreed that you wouldn’t tell everyone my name.
“They’re dead, remember? You killed them, for crying out loud! I heard you whining about two chapters left and need I remind you this is a freaking TRILOGY?!?”
Give me a break here. It sort of just happened. Got carried away, ya know? I’m trying to think of how to fix this mess at the moment, and you’re not helping one bit!
“Geeze. You are just typical. Well, never trust a man to do a woman’s job.”
What do you suggest?
“I dunno. Try checking your email once in a while. I sent you one when I saw this happen in the Master Emerald.”
Fine, fine. Just give me a sec.

Very funny. How many times have I told you to stop changing my password? I just wasted a good half hour.
“Well, what do you think?”
I like it. Subject to random change and moments of pointless nonsense, of course.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I’m off to the island. Say hello to your twin for me., Kay?”
Not like he’ll listen. Guess what, Sonic? Chaos took your light, now show him just how powerful your darkness is, right Nazo?

The sky started to burn as a strange darkness crept through the city. All the shadows moved all directions, but all with the same destination. The darkness moved to Sonic’s lifeless body and began to force it’s way into the very fiber of his core. It fed him. Nourished him. Filled him with the power of the darkness that spawned it. Sonic lifted off the ground and his color became darkness. His eyes opened and burned with the color of blood. With one breath of the decayed and stale air, he said, “Chaos. My minion. You dare defy me and attack my host body? Very well. I will show you the suffering that is Nazo.” With that, he faded into the shadows.

Back in Delta City, Chaos looked at the destruction that he was bringing forth. With a laugh, he said, “To think. I feared Nazo for countless millennia only to find out he’s so better than these pathetic fleshlings. A simple strike and his host body bruises. A mere cut, it bleeds. A sword to it’s heart, it dies. Absolutely disgraceful.” A dark, hollow voice as cold as the void of space hissed, “If I’m so mortal, pawn, then why am I not dead?” Chaos stiffened and muttered, “Oh crap. This first, I resort to using a mortal as a host. Then I find out this Sonic idiot completely screws up reality. Now to top it all off, I find you that you, Nazo…” he yelled, pointing at Sonic’s possessed form, “Are harder to kill than a freaking cockroach on bloody steroids!”
The two of them looked at each other for a moment before Nazo said, “For your sake, you didn’t just say that.” In a blank voice, Chaos replied dumbly, “For chaos’ sake, I pray I didn’t.”
For Pete’s sake! Get on with it!
The two of them yelled, “SHUT UP!!!!”
Huh. Fine then. Oh, catch.
A bolt of lightning hit them and chaos muttered, “Here’s the deal. You and me fight, and we leave the fourth wall the hell alone. Agreed?” Nazo hit chaos and sent him flying, saying, “Works for me.” Chaos smiled as he wiped the blood from his lip. Well, well, my former master. It looks like the chaos I have brought down on this planet has made your mighty strength to that of an equal. Fortunate for me, or I’d be dead now. However, not so much for you. You never were much in the way of fighting. You’re only as strong as your Vassal, and mine is perfect.”
Nazo laughed and sneered, “Maybe so, but you have no purpose. As much as I despise this pathetic race, I decided to spare a small few to take care of you.” Chaos sighed. “You honestly think a few new minions will give you the power to defeat me in this form? The Ultimate Chaos? Hmm. Much catchier than my last choice of a name.” Nazo let out a smile and said, :”Not me, my foolish pawn. You are not worth my time. You will be a more than sufficient test to determine the strength of my true threat.”
Dark shadows rose out of the ground and started taking form. “You will be taking on the keepers of chaos. My vassal and his allies. They are the ones I fear, not some puppet whose strings are now broken and frayed.” Sonic, Amy, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow stood there as Nazo faded into the darkness, saying, “You were created to be my pawn, to use as I see fit, and now you will die the same way. Sonic looked at Chaos and said, “Hey there, ugly. Sonic here. I’m Cool, I’m blue, I’m back… and I am going to kick you’re kiester back to wherever it is you came from.”
