CHAPTER IV
HERE’S NAZO!
“If you ask me, I think it might be a good idea to follow those guys.” – Amy to Sonic as a bomb containment team fled the mall
The two warriors stood there, angrily. Eggman Nega looked at them and said, “So, you both assumed your dark forms. Chaos Sonic and Chaos Shadow, half-breeds of the entity known as Nazo. This obviously requires a great deal of analysis. The sheer power emanating from your bodies is rather impressive. Unfortunately for you two, I prepared for such an event.” He turned to the shadows and said, “Would you be so kind as to take care of these two, oh dark one?”
An ethereal figure stepped out of the shadows with an evil smile on it’s face. Nazo stood there and hissed, “Fools. Do you really think that I’ll make this battle easy for you? I’m the one making the rules and I will not tolerate cheating.” The creature extended it’s hand and the two warriors started to revert back to their normal states. Sonic looked at himself and said, “Well, that didn’t work out as well as I hoped.
Eggman Nega smiled and said, “Well, since you two are out of your cells, I might as well begin the extraction process. You’re chaos abilities will prove excellent power for my Egg Fleet.” At that moment, a small army of Metal Sonic’s entered the room. Sonic turned to his counterpart, saying, “Makes you feel wanted, doesn’t it?” Shadow smirked and replied, “Shut up and scrap them.” With that, the black haired warrior drew a pair of pistols and opened fire on the machines.
Sonic ran to the other cells and summoned his sword. With a mighty swing, he shattered the glass on the containment chambers. Amy, Knuckles and Tails stood there, trying to regain their bearings. After a moment, Tails said, “You guys buy me some time I’m going to take care of the syphoning machine.” Knuckles replied, “Okay, but be careful. Once the energy is gone, the entire fleet will fall out of the sky.” Sonic muttered, “We’ll cross that bridge when we get there. Right now, let’s take this one out of the sky.”
The group looked at him blankly and he said, “What?” The three of them yelled, “Shut up and fight, you idiot!” The blue haired teen charged at the metallic monstrosities and slashed at the nearest one. The machine attempted to block the attack with it’s arm only to have the blade slice clean through it. As it examined the damage, Sonic sliced through it’s torso. He let out a smirk and said, “That was easier than I expected.” Suddenly, he felt something grab his ankle and with a mighty pull, he was knocked to the ground. Looking at the seized appendage, he saw that the severed machine was still, very much able to continue the fight.
In utter shock and surprise, Sonic repeatedly hit the machine with his blade, yelling, “Dammit! When I kill you, For Chaos’ sake, stay dead!!!” When he was done, he looked at the now non-functioning machine and muttered, “I really hate these things.” before moving on to the next one. Eggman Nega turned to Nazo and yelled, “My machines are being destroyed! Do something, Nazo!” The creature laughed and said, “I don’t take orders from my pawns.” Eggman Nega yelled, “Pawn? I am a pawn to nothing. I am the master!” Nazo laughed darkly.
“Master? You believe yourself master? You are nothing more than another tool that I am using to test these beings of flesh. A mere stepping stone to test my real threat. I will be very interested to see the end of this battle.” With that, the creature vanished. He watched the two warriors tear through the machines that attacked them. At that moment, the bridge shook violently as the power that was absorbed from the Master Emerald started to leave the ship. Tails yelled, “I reversed the energy flow! This bird’s going down!” Sonic nodded and said, “Good job, Tails! Let’s beat feet!”
With that, the group ran from the bridge as fast as they could and stopped at the of the ship’s hull. They noticed that the ground was progressively and more quickly that comfortable approaching the ground. Sonic turned to shadow and said, “Okay, the Chaos Emeralds are gone again, we broke out of our cells and the fleet is going to crash. For one million dollars, how do we get the hell off this ship?” Shadow replied, “Jump, final answer.”
The blue haired teen muttered, “I was afraid of that. So, anybody manage to figure out where the parachutes are? I’m not to big on the whole jump off the ship like a lemming and fall to my imminent death idea.” Shadow nodded and said, “I’ll respect that idea.” With that, he grabbed Sonic and threw him over the edge. The group looked at him and he shrugged. “What? At least he didn’t jump.” Before they could react to the comment, he leaped after him.
After a moment, Sonic’s voice called, “You could have told me there was a life boat down here!” Shadow replied, “You never listened to me before, and I didn’t want to argue!” The rest of them jumped into the lifeboat, save for Tails, who missed. The four warriors looked over the edge and Knuckles muttered, “Good thing he can fly. Now let’s get out of here.” They disengaged locks and fell slowly to the ground.
