CHAPTER VIII
ONE MORE THING
“Do me a favor. Never set me up on a date with one of your friends again.” Sonic after finding out Amy wasn’t the only borderline psychotic student in the school.
Sonic stood in front of the altar where the Master Emerald lay. The destruction of Nazo seemed to cause the crystal to radiate brighter than before. The teen looked at it and sighed. “Now what do I do? I destroyed Nazo, but there is no one left alive on earth to celebrate with.” A calm voice said, “Well, why not wish for the world to return?” Sonic turned and saw Big standing on the altar, polishing the large crystal. “Big? What are you…?” The stout man smiled and said, “Master Emerald dirty. Me clean. Me clean once every hundred years, I do. Me also use Shiny Emerald to grant wishes. That me job.” The familiar musical Irish voice said, “That he do, laddy. I’ve seen him do it since the dawn of time.”
Sonic looked at froggy and said, “You’re in this book too? I thought you were just a filler.” The frog laughed and said, “Ah, that’s not how it goes, me boy. Knuckles guards the emerald, and Big be the one to care for it. Yet, only I be the one to work behind the scenes to get the powers to work together. Ye see, laddy, I be a messenger of the Gods of Order and Chaos themselves. I am the keeper of the dead and the living. Ye see, I’m an Oracle. I can tell ye how to use the seven emeralds to grant ye hearts desire. One wish to give ye all ye want. Untold power, Countless wealth. I can tell ye how to get it.”
Sonic looked at the frog and asked, “How do I grant a wish? How do I return the world to the way it was before?” Froggy chuckled and said, “That be an easy on, me boy. Ye place the seven Chaos Emeralds on the altar and make a wish into the master emerald. That’s it.” Sonic nodded and walked over to the pillars placing each emerald on it respectively. When they were all placed, Big smiled and said, “Oh boy! I grant a wish! What is your wish, mister blue hair?”
Sonic looked at the emerald and shook his head. “I don’t really know. I want the world to return to how it was, but I made some cool friends who I don’t want to lose. However, I took someone’s life, and I regret that a lot. Also, I don’t want to make a wish that will hurt anyone or make them sad. I just wish everyone could be happy.” A little too late, Sonic realized that he had inadvertently made a wish that he did not mean to make.
Sonic yelled, “No wait!” Big smiled and said, “Wish done. No re-do.” Sonic yelled, “Dammit! I can’t even make a wish right!” Blaze’s voice said from behind him, “As one of the people you killed, I’d say that I’m fairly happy.” Sonic turned and said, “What the hell?” Amy smiled. “Looks like your blunt stupidity pulled through yet again. By the way, mom’s getting dinner ready for when we’re done here.” Shadow chuckled. “And best part is, everyone is happier with Chaos and Nazo out of the picture for good. Nice call on the wish.”
Tikal stepped out of the shadows and said, “Say, Tails. Do I look different to you?” Everyone turned to her to see that she pretty much looked like crap. “Tikal!” Sonic blurted. “You look like shit!” Yawning, the red haired female muttered, “Guess I really am alive. Man, remind me not to go a couple of thousand years without sleep again.” Knuckles smiled. “Good to see you back on your feet again. Where’s Silver?” The female guardian chuckled and replied, “Still looking for ice cream. Go figure.” Sonic took the Emeralds off the pedestals and sighed.
Big turned to him and said, “You make wish?” Sonic looked at him blankly. Froggy shook his head and said, “Don’t mind him, laddy. Just a wee little loophole the gods overlooked.” Sonic thought for a moment and said, “Well, we can’t leave the Chaos Emeralds here, just in case we didn’t completely destroy Nazo. We should give one to each member of the Chaotix for safe keeping, and if we need to, we can use it to draw power from to take on any more freaks we come across.”
He passed one to Amy, Tails, Shadow and Knuckles. He sighed and said, “five out of seven”. Blaze took one and said, “If you’re going to let my boss look after one of those, I’ll be damned if I don’t help him out. Anyone tries to take this, I’ll deep fry them.” Sonic stood there blankly and said, “That works, in a creepy, oh my god you’re a complete psychopath sort of way.” Tikal said, “I’ll look after the last emerald, so that it stays here at all times.” Sonic nodded. “And that makes Seven. Well, let’s go home and eat. I could use a couple of thousand chili-dogs.” As they left, Tikal called, “Hey, Tails, what do you have planned for Saturday?” Tails shrugged. “Nothing.”
“Guess again,” The female guardian beamed. Tails stood there blankly for a moment, then yelled, “All right!!!” Sonic grabbed his friend and said, “Come on, Tails. I’m hungry!”

Back at his house, Sonic ran in the door and yelled, ‘Mom! I’m home!”after a moment of silence, it became apparent that nobody was home. He started walking around, saying, “Mom? Where are you?” The others entered slowly as Sonic said in a very depressed voice, “She’s not here. She never retuned.” He buried his head in his hands, and his shoulders sagged heavily. Blaze smiled and said, “Nice to finally see a guy in touch with his emotions. Kind of sexy. Oh. Here’s a note.” She read the note for a moment and said, “gone to the store, out of milk. Dinner is in the oven, love mom. P. S., say hi to everyone for me.”
Sonic looked up and said, “She just went to the store?” Blaze nodded and said, “You bet your sweet speedy butt she went to the store. I think I see her walking up the walk. I’ll go help her.” Shortly, Violet and Blaze walked into the house. The woman smiled and said, “Well, I’m glad to see that everyone is looking well. Sonic, I’ll have the chili ready for your hot dogs in a little bit.” Blaze smiled and said, “Actually, Mrs Rose, I’d like to cook for blue tone over there. Quickest way to a man’s heart, right? By the way, no hard feeling about the whole burning you to death thing?” Violet smiled and said, “Everyone was acting a little crazy. Don’t worry your head about it. By the way, if you think you have what it takes to win over Sonic with a chili-dog, give it a shot.”

As the group sat down for dinner,save for Amy and Shadow, Sonic looked at the chili-dogs that were in front of him. Violet called, “Amy, Shadow! Put those gun replicas away for a bit and come eat! Dinner’s getting cold.” Sonic looked at the food and said, “I’m not sure. I’m not sure I want to eat these.” Blaze smiled and said, “Tell you what. Eat one. If you don’t like it, don’t finish them. But if it suits your taste, you owe me a date.” Sonic chuckled and said, “You’re on.” He took a bite and looked up for a moment before wolfing down the rest. Violet smiled and said, “Blaze says that Shadow gets her to make this all the time. She actually learned it from her uncle from Mexico” Blaze smiled and said, “Looks like we’re hitting the town, Blue boy.”
Amy continued to discuss side arms with Shadow and Violet smiled. “I think it would be a good idea if everyone lived here.” All conversation came to a crashing halt. She smiled and continued, “The way I see it, everyone here has a Chaos Emerald, and will be facing a lot of fights in the near future. So, you’ll need a base, right? You can use the command center under the back yard that Tails built as a headquarters.” Tails shrugged and Well, I guess that would be better than leaving to collect dust.” Tikal walked in and said, “It was my idea. When you guys get into a situation, I’ll help at the controls.”
Sonic smiled. “Well, I guess it’s settled. The Chaotix is officially ready to handle the world.”
Violet smiled and said, “Right after you do your homework.” Everyone let out a groan and lowered their heads.
