CHAPTER V
SONIC VS. SHADOW
“If at first you don’t succeed, Run like hell!” – Sonic after trying to intimidate schoolyard bullies.
When Sonic looked down at the city below him, he said, “Is this where Nazo is hiding?” the Wraith screeched and nodded. He patted it on the head and said, “Thanks for the lift. Now get out of my sight before I take your head as well.” with that, he jumped off the creatures back and fell from the massive height in a free fall. He passed the massive skyscrapers and rotated his body in a high speed flipping motion. When he landed on the ground, he examined his surroundings. He could sense Nazo’s presence everywhere
He looked to the sky and yelled, “Nazo! Shadow! Show yourselves! I will take your heads for everything that you have put me through and crush them under my feet!” A familiar, expressionless voice said from behind him, “You still haven’t learned, have you? You can’t win this fight. Nazo is too strong. The true, ultimate life form. And when he merges with my body, I will become perfect. I refuse to let you prevent that from happening.” Sonic smiled and said, “You can try, but we both know that you’re going to be the one who get’s your ass kicked.”
The traitor smiled and drew a pair of pistols. “Now that we have heard the comments of the world’s biggest looser, It’s time I put you out of my misery.” Shadow snapped the pistols at Sonic and opened fire. The blue haired teen started running at super sonic speeds and yelled, “Don’t tell me you still think you can stop me with that damned gun. I’m way faster than your trigger finger” the blue haired warrior closed in and slashed at Shadow. The traitor suddenly blocked the attack with a spear and said, “I know. I just wanted to get you close enough to use my Chaos Weapon.”
He started to strike at the teen, who was forced to move back in an evasive motion. Sonic yelled, “Tell me you’re kidding me!” The traitorous Shadow continued spinning the weapon around his body and forward in an attacking motion, keeping the blue haired warrior at a distance. Sonic found his back against a wall and was barely able to dodge a direct attack to the center of his face. He looked at his opponent and said, “I’ll be damned to have come this far only to be defeated by one of Nazo’s toys!” The started slashing at the black clad warrior and pushed him back.
Suddenly, he landed a strike to Shadow’s chest, causing him to stagger back in shock. Sonic took advantage of this opening and relentlessly attacked his foe. After a moment, Shadow managed to regain himself enough to start a counter offensive. Sonic dodged between the thrusts and realized that a full frontal assault would not be good enough. He started running away from his opponent.” Shadow smiled and said, “You’re not getting away that easily.” and ran after him. Sonic reached a wall and ran up the side with Shadow in close pursuit.
Half way up the wall, Sonic pressed off the wall and darted back towards the ground and the incoming traitor. As the two of them passed, they made one final strike at one another. Sonic landed on the ground, falling to one knee as he held his now wounded side. Behind him, Shadow landed on the ground, lifeless as the gaping wound to his jugular released the last of his life blood. Sonic forced himself to his feet and yelled, “Come on, Nazo! Bring on as many of your puppets as you want! I’ll kill them all, just like I’ll kill you!”
A powerful energy formed behind him and Nazo’s voice said, “That won’t be necessary. I’m finished testing you. You are a far worthier adversary than I originally gave you credit for. However, the power that is flowing through your body will never do. Last thing I want is for you to fight me with my power. I’d rather kill you just as you are.” The dark energy that coursed through Sonic’s body faded. Nazo smiled and said, “It’s just too bad that now you are completely powerless to defeat me.”
Sonic let out a chuckle, which quickly grew into an all out laugh. Nazo smiled. “You seem to have quite the feather in your cap. What’s so amusing? You have no power and I will kill you because if it. Have you lost your mind in fear?” Sonic smiled and replied, “I don’t need your power, though it would help. However, I think you might have dropped something when we fought in Knothole. Actually, I think it was exactly seven something’s. You know. Large, shiny and jammed packed with chaotic goodness.
Nazo searched himself and realized that something was indeed missing. He yelled, “You stole the Chaos Emeralds?” Sonic smiled and said, “As an Orphan, I spent a fair amount of time on the streets, so I know a thing or two about lifting pockets.” He tossed the emeralds into the air and his body started to radiate a brilliant light. In a flash, he stood there in golden armor and pure white hair. He smiled and said, “Now it’s time for you to get a Super Sonic butt whooping.”
Nazo smiled and said, “Try not to disappoint me.” and took a jet black form with faint speckles of light.
