BOOK II OF THE HYRULE TERMINUS SAGA
DEATH MOUNTAIN
CHAPTER VII
DEMON LINK
The group headed into another large room and looked around. Saria and Sheik both said, “We're going to scout ahead.” the headed out of the room when a large grate slammed shut behind them. Link and Shadow, both drew their weapons and scanned the room. Shadow hissed, “There's someone here, and he's powerful. A menacing laugh echoed through the room before someone said, “Two Links. One Light, One Dark. How amusing... and Pathetic.” Both the Links yelled, “Who's there?” The voice replied, “You, of course. Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration. You'll never compare to the likes of me. I am the Ultimate warrior in both the worlds.”
Shadow yelled back, “More like the ultimate rambler. What do you plan to do? Talk us to death?” Suddenly, the dark elf went flying into the far wall with a great deal of force. Slowly getting to his feet, he muttered, “I just HAD to ask, didn't I?” Link replied, “I was about to say the same thing.” Looking around, he yelled, “Why don't you show yourself, Demon! Are you a coward?” The creature laughed and said, “Nice choice of words. Yes, I am a demon, But I'm no coward!” Link now went flying across the room.
He got to his feet and yelled, “What do you call that? I've been his harder buy a Deku leaf!” Shadow knew what was going on. The minute Link was again sent flying, Shadow thrust where a creature protruded from the wall. The form flew off the wall and into the center of the room. Shadow smiled. “Nope. Not a coward. Just an idiot.” The creature started taking form. He looked exactly like both links, but he had white hair and a gray tunic. There were markings on his face and he was looking extremely pissed.
Link smiled. “I guessed you were somehow another one of me. That's a bit of a problem on your account, since that means the three of us think alike. That's going to be a problem.” Shadow nodded. “How do we beat ourselves?” The two of them went flying again and collided into each other. Lying there, the Link muttered, “Okay... Maybe this guy isn't as similar as we thought...”
“You think?” Shadow groaned. Looking at the new enemy, the green garbed warrior said, “Only sometimes. We're going to need a plan.”
Shadow smiled. “Run in swinging?”
“Works for me.” The two of them ran at the new enemy and slashed at it. The blades came to a complete halt as cursed swords blocked their path. “Oh, now THAT'S just cheap!” the blades pushed outwards and the elves went flying. Landing hard on the ground Shadow turned to the gate and saw Sheik making hand gestures. The dark elf smiled. “Okay, Demon Link, or whoever you are. You're in for a serious deal of pain.”
Running at the creature, he was knocked back and cut on the arm by the swords. He landed hard and held his wound. He turned to Link, yelling, “Watch out for the swords! They're laced with Fire Vipent Venom!” The elf nodded and Picked up Shadow's fallen blade. Flipping them both in his hands, he said, “Ready to get your Butt kicked?” The demon smiled. “You wont be feeling so confident after I turn you into stone.” With that, the creature turned into a large serpent.
Both Links staggered back in shock, looking directly the creature's eyes. Their bodies transformed into statues. Sheik yelled, “DAMN!” and kicked the cage out of the wall, hitting the creature. Saria ran towards Link, keeping her head down. Sheik was not as quick, and met the same fate as the other two. The female grabbed Link's bow and fired arrow as the beast, making sure not to look it in the eyes.
After realizing that the arrows were bouncing off the creature's body, she came up with a plan. She grabbed an arrow and slammed it into the top of a bomb, forcing it to stay as well as lite the impact sensitive fuse. Taking aim, she yelled, “Chew on This!” she fired the arrow and it hit the creature, breaking apart a section of it's stone flesh. It was hurt, but it wasn't enough. It only became more angry. Preparing another arrow, she fired the explosive shot into the creature's mouth.
It roared and thrashed around violently. Grabbing her spear, she thrust it into the hole in the stone skin, then pulled back to safety. The creature was finally wounded. Glowing green life fluid oozed out of where it had been struck. 'I can hurt it,' she thought. 'I stand a chance.' She prepared another arrow and fired it at the creature, missing it completely missing it and hitting the ceiling. The spiky stalactites overhead shook violently.
Mounting another arrow bomb, she fired again and hit the creature in the face, knocking it to the ground again. She charged at it and got hit back into the wall, dropping all but the one arrow she was preparing to fire. Without a plan or a second to think as the creature rushed towards her, She snapped the arrow towards the ceiling and released it, saying, “Take this, you stoney maggot.” the bomb hit the Stalactites directly and sent them crashing down to the ground, completely burying the creature in a hailstorm of stone spears.
She looked at her friends and say that they were reverting to normal. Once in their original forms, Link and Sheik ran to Saria and gave her a joyful hug, while Shadow stood there awkwardly. The female walked up to him and smiled, saying, “Thank the Goddesses you're okay.” Shadow nodded, a little insecure. “Yeah. I guess I owe you one.” Saria smiled and game him a hug, saying, “This work well enough for me!”
The group broke into laughter as the dark elf stood there blushing profusely. The group suddenly turned to look at the loud crashing sounds from the stoney grave. The Demon Link stood there, badly wounded and glared at them. “Not bad. I planed for both Links, but I didn't expect the interference of the other two. Looks like I'm going to need to be more careful in the future.” Turning away, he concluded, “Celebrate your victory. It is well earned. But, don't be fooled into thinking it's getting easier from here. For now, you have my respect, so I give you fair warning. Until next time.”
The creature disappeared into a wisp on smoke and the group stood there stunned. Saria said, “I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that's not a good thing?” Link smiled. “We'll cross that bridge when we get there. Right now, we've earned a rest.”
